The e-Commerce enterprise survey is conducted annually in March and covers a selection of manufacturing, construction and service sector enterprises. The survey has been carried out in Ireland since 2002. The Purpose of the survey is to collect
data on the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in Irish businesses. Survey questions include general information about ICT systems, use of the internet, purchases and sales via the internet and other networks, web access,
e-commerce usage and other relevant ongoing ICT developments.
Harmonised surveys collecting comparable data are conducted annually accross the EU and all results are available from Eurostat. These surveys provide many of the statistical indicators needed under the 2010 European Information
Society Initiative.
A sample of approximately 7,000 enterprises with 10+ employees between NACE codes of 10 and 82 inclusive is selected from the Central Business Register (CBR) of enterprises.
This survey is conducted under the provisions of regulation (EC) No. 808/2004. The information provided will be treated as strictly confidential in compliance with EU and national
legislation. It will be used only for statistical purposes and will not be divulged to any other Government Department or body.
